My Debut Song Release for Valborg and May Day

I am finally an artist and I want to share my story with you on my debut song release for Valborg and May Day. Did I release this song particularly for these days? No. It is, however, a very good coincidence with mutually shared themes.

On the 30th of April, Walpurgis Day, I released my debut single Tick Tick Tock! You can listen to the song on your platform of choice

Tick Tick Tock is all about empowerment, not being afraid of new beginnings and seizing the moment. Through its infectious energy, it is an invitation of celebration in transformation and continuous rebirth. While I am neither a fan nor a hater of Walpurgis Day, I found it fascinating that these themes are what was historically celebrated. Of course these very themes are also May Day themes. Therefore, I wanted us to explore these together.

This is the Story of My Debut Song Release for Valborg and May Day

I have always loved music. Unfortunately, just like many of us in this world, I spent years doubting myself. The words of discouragement that I heard from a young age planted a seed. I would then continue to water that seed and eventually, the plant became a mighty tree bearing fruit and in turn, producing more seeds. Thankfully, God in his wisdom, made life and the universe a self-balancing mechanism. The inner rebel in me that believes in dreams, faith and liberation would not let me sleep. I spent many-a-sleepless nights crying. I just wanted to make music. No matter how much I tried and what I tried a fire ignited in me. An ember from the fire of my dream fell on that mighty tree of self-doubt that had taken root in me. Suddenly, it became fuel for my dreams.

Tick Tick Tock, Valborg and May Day are all about not dwelling in the hardship but using the hardship as a ground for transformation. They are all about looking forward to that which brings balance and quite frankly, justice.

There’s no bigger injustice than feeling unworthy or that you need to settle for less than you deserve

I am so inspired by the revolution that led to the celebration of May Day. I’m also inspired by the tradition preceding May Day as Labour Day – the celebration of warmer weather. Many of us, because of our evolutionary blueprint, are risk-averse and terrible at celebrating. It’s like we are always bracing for trouble. We grumble that “winter is coming” (yes this is a Game of Thrones reference). Yet we don’t throw parties to usher in the summer. Not in Sweden though. Swedes really love their Valborg! I hope that behind the celebrations though is a deep sense of vitality, life and truly living.

For those who celebrate it, Valborg (Walpurgis Night) on April 30th marks the arrival of spring in the Nordics. It’s a night of bonfires, music, and gathering – a time to cast off the cold and welcome renewal. The very next day, May Day continues that spirit of transformation, historically honoring both the joy of spring and the fight for empowerment and new beginnings.

These festivals are all about embracing life fully. About not waiting for the perfect moment – but creating it.

That’s exactly what my debut song is about. It’s energetic, pulsing, and built around a message I’ve lived firsthand:

Don’t let life slip through the cracks. The clock is ticking. You have to move now.
